Putting God First = Best Life Hack
How much are we in God’s Word? This week, advice on faithfulness from a 2x Christian unicorn ($1B) founder, our latest course on self-care, and mid-year reflections
Hi friends,
Let’s be honest. Who doesn’t love a good life hack?
lifehack noun
a strategy or technique that you use in order to manage your time and daily activities in a more efficient way
Source: Oxford Learner’s Dictionary
Whether we get tips from TikToks, TED Talks or trendy websites, may we not forget that the best lifehack source is God (let’s be in his Word daily!).
Tips from a Unicorn Founder (x2!)
This past week, I went to a fireside chat at Velocity with Iyinoluwa Aboyeji. He’s the co-founder of two unicorn (i.e. valued at over $1B) companies, Andela and Flutterwave. To be honest, it was a busy day and I almost didn’t go, but I had a hunch that perhaps he’d be a Christian. (Anyone else no longer surprised when people at the top of their field also happen to be passionate Christians?) So in a room full of ambitious entrepreneurs, largely in science and tech, and amidst great business advice, I was excited to hear him say things like:
“I pray a lot”
“Doing the right thing is a choice” e.g. when he decided Flutterwave would no longer process payments from porn sites
“I try not to operate from a place of fear… if I have one, it’s that I don’t finish the work [God has given me]”
“I flew [on business trips] after church…”
“Be unapologetically you”
May we remember, as we pursue God’s plan for our lives and when he blesses us with success, that the best lifehack is doing things God’s way. We don’t make excuses—that x, y, z needs to be compromised now so we can win the market and that we can ‘make up’ for things later—but build upon God’s foundation.
Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! (1 Chronicles 16:11)
Our Latest Course
Self-Care for Servant-Hearted Leaders is now live!
This past week, I met with the Women’s Ministry lead for a national Christian organization who asked when the course would be available as she had people she wanted to share it with. So we made it happen! :) As we put the finishing touches on, I also listened to the whole course again and think the lessons are so timeless.
Feeling the pressure this season and need some self-care… but not entirely sure how to go about it from a Christian perspective? Dive in, you won’t regret being inundated with God’s truths and practical tips from a busy, accomplished pastor who gets it.
Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. (3 John 1:2)

Last week, I also went into the The Salvation Army HQ and enjoyed a day with my colleagues. We attended chapel together, had lunch in the sunshine, and generally enjoyed face-to-face bonding that just doesn’t happen over a screen. Lots of hugs!
Over the weekend, my Master’s program held an alumni picnic and it was lovely to reconnect with my cohort as well as others. As our Pink and New office is on campus, I’ve become friendly with a lot of this year’s cohort—hard to believe I was in their shoes just a year ago! A lot has happened since graduation—living in Taipei, moving back to Canada, joining Velocity and Communitech, starting at the Salvation Army, getting our first office for Pink and New, launching our course site and seven courses… and more to come—and it’s truly all because of God.
As I’ve worked on Pink and New, there have been moments where God’s vision has felt overwhelming but the thing that has kept me, and will keep all of us, from ever giving up is remembering we’re God’s child, stewarding God’s gift, and that we can do it with God, for his glory, and according to his plan. He will lead.
Eyes on the Lord, friends, amen? Every. Single Day. (And throughout the day!)
I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:8)
